Born in London, John Innes graduated in veterinary science from University of Liverpool in 1991. He was at the Bristol Veterinary School for 10 years where he completed his surgical training, becoming a recognised specialist of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2001, and a PhD in canine osteoarthritis at the Rheumatology Unit of the Bristol Medical School. In 2001, he was appointed full professor of small animal surgery at University of Liverpool.

John has published over 70 peer-reviewed research papers and won research grants in excess of £3.5 million. In 2005, Professor Innes was awarded the British Small Animal Veterinary Association’s Simon Award for ‘outstanding contributions to veterinary surgery’. John is currently Clinical Director at ChesterGates Veterinary Specialists and Referrals Director for CVS Vets Ltd. Clinical interests include all areas of small animal orthopaedics and his research interests focus on medical and surgical management of canine osteoarthritis.

Rob qualified at the University of Liverpool after a career in the Fleet Air Arm (Royal Navy). After a period in first opinion practice he joined the Orthopaedic Department in January 2006 where he is now the Head of the Orthopaedic service. Rob holds the RCVS Diploma in Small Animal Surgery (Orthopaedics) and is an RCVS Recognised Specialist in Small Animal Orthopaedics.

Rob has published a number of peer reviewed papers in the veterinary literature and has been awarded a number of research grants relating to canine orthopaedics.  He is a regular speaker at conferences both nationally and internationally.
